A nocturnal polysomnogram is a diagnostic study performed on most patients with a sleep complaint. The PSG is offered during daytime hours for shift workers and night time, NPSG for night time sleepers. The study is performed during the patients normal sleep hours. A PSG will provide understanding for your doctor about your specific sleep patterns and sleep problems.

The recording includes various measurements used to help identify and diagnose sleep disorders With these  measurement your doctor will be able to determine stages of sleep including drowsiness, light sleep, deep sleep, and dream sleep. The recording will also include respiratory and muscular measurements to diagnose various disorders.
